PLA2 RECEPTOR ANTIBODY QUANTITATIVE , SERUM

• PLA2R (Phospholipase A2 receptor) antibody quantitative test helps in diagnosing a type of kidney disease i.e. Primary Membranous Nephropathy (PMN)
• A quantitative test result can also be used to monitor the response to treatment, and to check for recurrence of the disease.

• PLA2R (Phospholipase A2 receptor) antibody quantitative test is done in patients with suspected PMN who have persistent proteinuria, even after exclusion of other causes such as kidney stones, urinary tract infections, and other kidney diseases.
• The PLA2R (Phospholipase A2 receptor) antibody quantitative test is typically done in individuals who have been diagnosed with primary membranous nephropathy (PMN) and are being treated for the condition. The test is used to measure the level of antibodies directed against the PLA2R protein in the blood, which can help to monitor the disease progression and response to treatment.

Patients with PMN who have been diagnosed with the condition and are undergoing treatment, such as immunosuppressive therapy, may be recommended to undergo regular monitoring of their PLA2R antibody levels

PLA2 Receptor Antibody Quantitative test measures the level of IgG antibodies against phospholipase A2 receptors (PLA2R).

This test requires a blood sample. A tourniquet (elastic) band is placed tightly on the upper arm. The patient is then asked to make a fist. This helps in the build-up of blood filling the veins. The skin is disinfected before needle insertion and the blood sample is collected in vacutainer.

A positive result on the PLA2R (Phospholipase A2 receptor) antibody quantitative test indicates the presence of antibodies directed against the PLA2R protein. This can be indicative of a condition known as Membranous Nephropathy (MN), a type of kidney disease characterized by the formation of scar tissue on the filtering units of the kidney (glomeruli) which can lead to damage of the kidney and eventually kidney failure.
