MYCN Neuroblastoma (N MYC Gene Amplification)

The MYCN Neuroblastoma Test measures the levels of the MYCN marker in neuroblastoma, a childhood cancer.

• The MYCN Neuroblastoma Test is recommended for patients with a suspected or confirmed diagnosis of neuroblastoma.

• This test may also be recommended for individuals at high risk for developing neuroblastoma.

In neuroblastoma testing, an abnormal result indicates an elevated level of the MYCN marker, suggesting a higher risk or more aggressive form of cancer.

During the test, a sample of tumour-containing tissue will be taken. It will be sent for analysis using a method called FISH (fluorescence in situ hybridization).
