FSH test

High FSH levels may indicate early onset of menopause or fertility issues.

E2 Estradiol Serum Test

Low levels may occur due to ovarian insufficiency or menopause. In perimenopausal period E2 levels may fluctuate.

Lipid Profile test

High LDL, Total Cholesterol, Triglycerides along with low HDL levels may occur in peri menopausal women.

Calcium test

Low calcium levels may occur in cases of early menopause or post hysterectomy due to lack of adequate hormone production. This coupled with vitamin D may result in certain bone disorders.

Phosphorus Test

Abnormal phosphorus levels along with the calcium levels may occur in women experiencing early menopause or menstrual irregularities.

  • FSH test
  • E2 test

Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) Levels continue to rise from perimenopausal to menopause and then stabilize at higher levels than pre-menopausal times. Hence, this is the most stable marker for detection of menopause.

Estradiol is an estrogen steroid hormone and the major female sex hormone. It is responsible for the development of secondary sexual characteristics like fat distribution pattern, breast development and sexual functions. The test is done to diagnose menstrual irregularities, signs of menopause, and infertility. Levels of E2 fluctuate during the perimenopausal period to settle for low levels post menopause.
