Donor Specific Antibody (DSA) Test

The DSA Test measures HLA antigens on blood cells to assess compatibility for organ transplantation.

• To assess compatibility between organ transplant donors and recipients • To determine the risk of organ rejection after transplantation • To monitor the effectiveness of immunosuppressive therapy post-transplantation • To identify antibodies that may cause complications during pregnancy or blood transfusions

The DSA Test is recommended for individuals who • are scheduled to undergo organ transplantation, • have previously received an organ transplant, • require monitoring for potential organ rejection, or • are planning to have a child or need a blood transfusion.

Abnormal DSA Test results may indicate • higher risk of organ rejection due to incompatible HLA antigens, or • presence of antibodies that can cause complications during pregnancy or transfusions.

Blood samples will be collected from the recipient and potential donor(s). These samples will be sent for analysis.

• Inform your healthcare provider about any medications, supplements, or allergies you have. Also, tell them if you have any specific requirements. • Provide relevant clinical history and complete any required consent forms. • Follow any instructions given by your doctor regarding fasting or medication restrictions prior to the test.

• Crossmatch Test: Identifies if there are antibodies in your blood that could react against the potential donor's cells • Antibody Screening: Helps identify antibodies that may cause complications during pregnancy or blood transfusions • HLA Typing: Determines your tissue type for matching purposes and evaluates compatibility with potential donors
