Glucose Post Glucose (50g)

This test measures your blood glucose level one hour after consuming 50 grams of glucose. It helps evaluate how well your body processes and regulates sugar, providing insight into conditions like diabetes.

This test is done for the following reasons:

• To diagnose diabetes or pre-diabetes
• To assess insulin resistance
• To monitor the effectiveness of diabetes treatment
• To evaluate gestational diabetes during pregnancy

This test is recommended for individuals who:

• Have symptoms of diabetes, such as increased thirst, frequent urination, and unexplained weight loss
• Are at high risk for developing diabetes, such as those with a family history or being overweight
• Are pregnant and need to be screened for gestational diabetes

The normal blood glucose level after one hour of the Glucose Post-Glucose (50 g) test is less than 140 mg/dL. Abnormal results may indicate diabetes or pre-diabetes. • You will consume a drink containing 50 grams of glucose.
• Blood samples will be taken one hour after consuming the drink.
