CT-NG (Chlamydia Trachomatis & Neisseria Gonorrhoeae) Panel - Urine Spot

This test panel measures the presence of two types of bacteria, Chlamydia trachomatis and Neisseria gonorrhoeae, in your urine sample.

• To identify the presence of Chlamydia trachomatis or Neisseria gonorrhoeae in patients who have symptoms like discharge from genitals, painful urination, or abnormal vaginal bleeding • To screen people who have had unprotected sex with multiple partners • To diagnose sexually transmitted infections that may be asymptomatic

Your doctor may recommend this test if you • have had unprotected sex with multiple partners • have symptoms suggestive of sexually transmitted infections such as discharge from genitals, painful urination, and abnormal vaginal bleeding, • have a sexual partner with a diagnosed STI (sexually transmitted infection), or • are pregnant or planning to get pregnant.

A positive result means that the test has detected the presence of Chlamydia trachomatis or Neisseria gonorrhoeae bacteria in your urine sample.

• You will be given a sterile, leak-proof container to collect a 15 ml sample of urine. • No special preparation is needed before collecting a urine sample.

It is advised to avoid urinating one hour before sample collection. Discuss any current medication use with your doctor so that they can advise if any changes need to be made. Inform your doctor if you have any specific requirements.

• HIV and Syphilis testing: to identify sexually transmitted infections that can have more severe consequences if left untreated. • Blood count and Urine analysis: to identify other bacterial infections or conditions. • Pap Smear: to identify any cervical cell changes that could indicate cancer.

Urine Chlamydia and gonorrhoea test or Urine NAAT test

Chlamydia trachomatis and Neisseria gonorrhoeae are sexually transmitted bacteria that can cause severe health problems if left undiagnosed and untreated. The former can lead to urethritis, cervicitis, and pelvic inflammatory disease, while the latter may cause diseases like gonorrhoea and pelvic inflammatory disease.
