Chromium Hair Test by ICPMS

This test measures the amount of chromium in your hair, which is an indicator of your body's chromium levels.

This test can be done for a variety of reasons, including

Elevated levels may indicate exposure to environmental or occupational sources of chromium, while low levels may indicate poor dietary intake or malabsorption, which can lead to insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases. 

During this test, a sample of your hair will be collected, typically from the back of your head. The hair will be washed with a special detergent to remove any external contamination before analysis.

To prepare for this test, remember the following points:

• Avoid using any hair products like gels or sprays.
• Do not dye, style, or bleach your hair for at least a week before the test.
• Inform your doctor about any supplements or medications you are taking.

Hair chromium test

Hair Chromium is a good indicator of tissue levels and may provide a better indication of status than do urine or blood/serum.
