Chikungunya PCR test

The Chikungunya RNA Test detects the presence of the Chikungunya virus RNA in your blood.

• To diagnose Chikungunya infection in individuals with symptoms such as fever, joint pain, and rash • To monitor the progress of treatment for Chikungunya • To identify individuals who have been exposed to the virus but are asymptomatic • To study the prevalence of Chikungunya in specific regions or populations

The Chikungunya RNA Detection Test is recommended for individuals who • have symptoms suggestive of Chikungunya infection, • have been exposed to the virus but are not showing symptoms, or • require monitoring of treatment efficacy for Chikungunya.

An abnormal result may indicate an active or recent infection.

A small blood sample will be collected from your vein. The sample will be sent to the laboratory for analysis using Real Time PCR.

• No fasting or special dietary restrictions are necessary. • Inform your doctor about any medications you are taking and about any specific requirements you may have. • Follow any specific instructions provided by your healthcare provider. • Provide accurate clinical history and any relevant symptoms or exposures to the virus.

• Complete blood count (CBC) to evaluate white blood cell count and platelet levels • IgM and IgG antibody tests to detect past or recent Chikungunya infection • Serological tests for other mosquito-borne viral infections such as dengue or Zika

Chikungunya PCR Test

Chikungunya is a viral infection transmitted to humans by infected mosquitoes. It causes symptoms such as fever, joint pain, rash, and muscle ache. In some cases, joint pain may persist for months or years after the acute phase of the infection.
