Cadmium Hair Test by ICPMS

This test measures the level of cadmium present in hair using the ICPMS method.

• This test helps detect exposure to cadmium and assess the risk of toxicity, which could lead to conditions like bone density loss, organ damage, and cancer risk.
• It helps diagnose chronic cadmium poisoning and confirms whether low-level exposure might contribute to health issues.

This test is recommended for individuals exposed to high levels of cadmium at work or due to environmental factors such as pollution, cigarette smoking, or contaminated food or water. People with symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, and other digestive issues may also need this test as part of their diagnostic process.

Elevated levels could indicate exposure to higher levels of cadmium than usual and may lead to various health implications such as kidney damage, anaemia, hypertension, and more. 

During this test, a small sample of hair will be collected from your scalp or other parts of the body. The procedure takes only a few minutes and is generally quick and without discomfort.

There are no specific preparations required before this test. However, avoid hair treatments such as dying or bleaching 48 hours before the test as it may interfere with the results. Also, inform your doctor if you have taken any medication that could affect the results.
