Patients will receive specific instructions on how to prepare for the amniocentesis procedure. This may include taking any necessary precautions.

Additional prenatal tests, such as ultrasound and genetic testing, may be recommended to assess fetal development and confirm the diagnosis if elevated alpha-fetoprotein levels are detected.
