Allergen,Individual-FoodBeefCow meat (Bos spp.)
Overview
A beef allergy test, typically performed tp measure your immune system's reaction to proteins found in beef (Bos spp.) This test helps diagnose a beef allergy, which can cause symptoms like hives, nausea, or trouble breathing. By identifying an allergy, you can avoid beef and prevent potentially serious reactions.
An allergy to meat can develop at any time in life. Most beef allergies develop later in life. An Alpha-Gal allergy is the most common cause of allergic reactions to most meats. Galactose-alpha-1,3-galactose (also known as alpha-gal) is a carbohydrate found in beef.
If an individual is allergic to red meat, there is also potential for allergies to cow dander, milk and bacterial vaccines containing bovine serum albumin.
