AFB (TB) - Antibiogram For MTb Complex - Rifabutin Drug By MGIT - Pure Growth Of MTB Complex

This test measures the susceptibility of TB bacteria to rifabutin, an antibiotic used in TB treatment.

• To identify drug-resistant strains of TB bacteria • To guide appropriate treatment options for TB • To assess the effectiveness of rifabutin in treating TB • To monitor the progress of TB treatment and adjust medication if necessary

This test is recommended for individuals who are diagnosed with TB or suspected to have drug-resistant strains of TB. It is also used to guide treatment decisions for patients who may have been exposed to someone with TB or have symptoms suggestive of TB.

Abnormal results indicate resistance of the TB bacteria to rifabutin or other drugs used in TB treatment.

During this test, your healthcare provider will collect a specimen of pure culture (Mtb Complex) from a bottle or MGIT tube or LJ slant. The specimen will be sent to the laboratory for testing using the MGIT method.
