Endomysial Antibody IgA (EMA IgA) is a type of antibody that can be detected in the blood serum of individuals with celiac disease. Celiac disease is an autoimmune disorder that is triggered by the ingestion of gluten, a protein found in wheat, rye, and barley.

EMA IgA antibodies target the endomysium, which is a layer of connective tissue that surrounds muscle fibers. When gluten is ingested, the body's immune system can mistakenly attack the endomysium in addition to attacking the gluten, resulting in damage to the small intestine and other parts of the body.

EMA IgA antibodies are a highly specific and sensitive marker of celiac disease, with a reported sensitivity of up to 98% and a specificity of up to 100%.
