An Allergen, Individual - Food Clove test is a specific type of allergy test that checks your immune system's response to clove, a commonly used spice. This test measures the presence and quantity of Immunoglobulin E (IgE) antibodies in your bloodstream that react against clove proteins. When your immune system mistakenly identifies clove proteins as harmful, it produces IgE antibodies. This test is done to diagnose clove allergies in people who experience symptoms like skin rashes, itching, swelling of the face, difficulty breathing, stomach pain, or even anaphylaxis in severe cases, after eating clove or foods containing clove.

Clove oil is widely used as an analgesic and antiseptic agent in dentistry and is often found in toothpaste and tooth powders. It is also a flavouring, scent, or deodorant in a range of products, including perfumes, soaps and detergents.

Clove oil has also been used medicinally in the treatment of digestive ailments, as well as fungi and parasites.
