Allergen,Individual-Food Peach Prunus persica
Overview
Peaches are often consumed fresh but may also be canned, dried or pickled. They can be found in pastries, chutneys and jams. Ordinary peach trees occasionally produce a few nectarines, and vice versa, so individuals with a peach allergy may very well also be allergic to nectarines and other members of the Rosaceae family.
An allergy to peach triggers a reaction in an individual's immune system. The body views certain substances as toxic and produces IgE antibodies to these contaminants. These antibodies cause histamine to be released, which will cause the symptoms of an allergic reaction.

This test requires a blood sample. A tourniquet (elastic) band is placed tightly on the upper arm. The patient is then asked to make a fist. This helps in the build-up of blood filling the veins. The skin is disinfected before needle insertion and the blood sample is collected in vacutainer.
Detection of IgE antibodies indicates an increased likelihood of allergy to Peach that may be responsible for eliciting signs and symptoms. A negative result indicates that the symptoms are not due to Peach allergies and other differential diagnoses must be considered.
