ASH /NASH / STEATO Profile

ASH stands for "alcoholic steatohepatitis." It is a type of liver disease that occurs in people who drink excessive amounts of alcohol. The liver becomes inflamed and filled with fat, leading to liver damage and scarring (cirrhosis).

NASH stands for "nonalcoholic steatohepatitis." It is a type of liver disease that occurs in people who do not drink excessive amounts of alcohol. Instead, it is characterized by the buildup of fat in the liver (steatosis), along with inflammation and liver cell damage. This can lead to cirrhosis. It is more common in individuals with risk factors such as obesity, metabolic syndrome, diabetes, and high triglycerides levels.

Steatohepatitis, is a general term for describing both NASH and ASH as well as other condition characterized by inflammation and fat accumulation in the liver cells.

The ASH/NASH/STEATO Profile is a comprehensive diagnostic test designed to assess liver health and detect conditions related to alcoholic steatohepatitis (ASH), non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), and other liver disorders characterised by inflammation and fat accumulation in liver cells. This profile is crucial for evaluating the risk of fibrosis (scarring) in the liver, determining the stage of fibrosis, and identifying advanced liver disease.
