Hepatitis E Virus (HEV) Anti-HEV IgG

Normal results for this test indicate that you have not been exposed to the hepatitis E virus or that your body has not produced enough antibodies yet. Abnormal results may suggest past or current infection. However, further tests may be needed to confirm the diagnosis. Abnormal results do not necessarily mean you have liver disease or need immediate treatment. Discuss your test results with your doctor for proper evaluation and interpretation.

When you undergo this test:

• A small amount of blood will be drawn from your vein.
• The procedure is quick and relatively painless.
• The blood sample will be sent to the laboratory for analysis using the enzyme immunoassay (EIA) method.
