The test detects the presence or absence of cancerous cells in the patient sample using the brush cytology technique.

The test requires a patient tissue sample scraping which is be obtained during the endoscopy/bronchoscopy procedure. The cytological examination is performed to detect the presence of cancerous cells.

Positive result may indicate presence of cancerous cells in the sample. This may aid the diagnosis of cancer. Negative result does not rule out cancer. Further clinical correlation may be required. A biopsy may be required if indicated clinically.
