VZV IgG Antibody By CLIA

This test detects antibodies against the Varicella Zoster Virus (VZV) in your blood serum.

• To check previous exposure or immunity against VZV • To detect the presence Rubella virus • To determine if you need a chickenpox vaccine • To confirm adequate immunity after receiving a chickenpox vaccine

This test is recommended when • you have not had chickenpox before, • you have had chickenpox in the past, and an outbreak has occurred near you, • you have been exposed to someone with shingles, or • you need confirmation of immunity after getting the vaccine against chickenpox.

A negative result indicates a lack of immunity, while a positive result means you have immunity against the virus either through natural infection or vaccination.

A healthcare professional will collect a blood sample from your arm. They will send the blood sample to a laboratory for analysis.

• You may be asked to avoid food, drink, and medication for several hours before the test. • Inform your doctor if you have any bleeding disorders or are taking any blood-thinning medications.

Other tests that may be ordered along with VZV IgG include Herpes simplex virus test, TB skin test, or Hepatitis panel.
