Rabies virus antibodies IgG

The Rabies Virus IgG Test measures the level of rabies antibodies in the blood.

• To diagnose and confirm a suspected case of rabies in individuals with muscle spasms or neurological symptoms • To determine if a person has developed immunity to rabies after receiving a rabies vaccine • To assess the effectiveness of treatment for rabies infection

The Rabies Virus IgG Test is recommended if :

• you have been bitten by an animal suspected of carrying rabies, 
• you develop symptoms such as muscle spasms, paralysis, or neurological abnormalities after being bitten, or
• you have received a rabies vaccine and need to check if you have developed immunity.

Elevated levels of antibodies may indicate exposure to the rabies virus or successful vaccination against it.

During the test, a small amount of blood will be drawn from your arm using a needle. The blood sample will be sent to the laboratory for analysis by the EIA method.

Mention any history of animal bites, possible exposure to rabies, or previous rabies vaccinations to your healthcare provider. Also, inform them if you have any specific requirements.

• Rabies Virus Neutralisation Test: This test confirms the presence of neutralising antibodies against the rabies virus. 
• Rabies PCR Test: This test detects the presence of rabies virus RNA in samples such as saliva, cerebrospinal fluid, or brain tissue.

Rabies Antibody Test or Rabies Serology Test
