CK19 IHC

This test detects the expression level of CK19 protein in tissue samples. An increased expression of CK19 is associated with papillary carcinoma of the thyroid.

• Individuals being monitored for recurrence or persistence of thyroid cancer after treatment

• Elevated expression of CK19 suggests a higher likelihood of papillary carcinoma of the thyroid.
• Abnormal results should be interpreted in conjunction with clinical history, radiological findings, and other diagnostic tests.

• A small tissue sample (obtained during biopsy or surgery) is collected and fixed in formalin.
• The sample undergoes processing to create paraffin blocks for analysis.
