Allergen, Individual-Animal Cow Dander Serum

This IgE antibody allergy test uses a blood sample to determine if you are allergic to Cow Dander. Dander consists of dead skin cells and particles shed by animals.

Cows (cattle) are used primarily for dairy products (milk, cheese, etc.) and in some places for meat.

When an individual with a cow allergy becomes exposed to these allergens, their immune system recognizes the substances as foreign. As a result, it stimulates the plasma cells to produce specific antibodies that combat the invaders. These antibodies cause a chemical known as histamine to be released, triggering an allergic reaction. The allergic reaction may occur within minutes or a few hours after initial exposure to cat allergens and may vary from mild to severe depending on the individual.

This test may help individuals determine if they have cow allergy, so they may work with their healthcare provider to develop a management and treatment plan.
