Fungal stain by KOH & Calcofluor White stain - Skin

This test detects the presence of fungal elements in skin samples using special stains, KOH & Calcofluor White.

• To diagnose fungal infections on the skin, hair, or nails • To monitor the effectiveness of treatment for fungal infections • To identify other fungal-related conditions • To assess the risk of developing infections such as candidiasis

• Your doctor may recommend this test if you have symptoms suggesting a fungal infection, such as itching, redness, scaling, or discoloured patches on your skin or nails. • This test is suitable for patients with suspected fungal infections and those with known risk factors for fungal-related conditions.

If the test results show the presence of fungal elements, it suggests a fungal infection.

During the test, a small skin sample will be collected in a sterile container. The sample will be sent to the laboratory for processing and staining with KOH & Calcofluor White.
