This test detects the presence of fungal infection in the eye.

• To diagnose fungal infections specifically in the eye • To identify the type of fungus causing the infection • To determine the sensitivity of the identified fungus to antifungal medications • To monitor the effectiveness of antifungal treatment

This test may be recommended if you have • symptoms like redness, pain, discharge, or blurred vision in your eye, • suspected fungal infection based on clinical examination, • a history of exposure to fungi or living in a high-risk environment, or • a compromised immune system due to medical conditions or medications.

Abnormal results may indicate a fungal infection, helping healthcare professionals initiate appropriate treatment.

During this test, an eye sample will be collected in a sterile, leak-proof container. The sample will be sent to the laboratory for processing using automated MALDITOF technology.
