Cold Agglutinin Serum

This test measures the presence and level of cold agglutinins in your serum. These antibodies can stick to red blood cells, leading to their destruction at colder temperatures. Understanding these levels helps diagnose conditions like certain types of pneumonia and hemolytic anaemia.

This test is done to:

• Diagnose primary atypical pneumonia.
• Identify specific hemolytic anaemias.
• Monitor disease progression.
• Determine treatment effectiveness.
• Evaluate autoimmune conditions affecting red blood cells.

Doctors may recommend this test if you:

• Show symptoms like persistent fatigue, weakness, shortness of breath, or chest pain.
• Have a history of pneumonia or anaemia.
• Are undergoing treatment for autoimmune disorders.
• Have been diagnosed with hemolytic anaemia.
• Are suspected of having autoimmune hemolytic anaemia.

• A small amount of blood will be drawn from your vein.
