Antithrombin III Activity Functional

This test measures the levels of antithrombin III in your blood. Antithrombin III is a protein that inhibits blood clot formation. By measuring this protein, doctors can evaluate your risk of developing abnormal blood clots.

This test is recommended for individuals who:

• Have a personal or family history of abnormal blood clots
• Have recurrent miscarriages or complications during pregnancy

• Have unexplained bleeding or clotting disorders

Abnormal results may indicate a higher risk of developing abnormal blood clots or a deficiency in antithrombin III levels.

• Low levels of antithrombin III may suggest a higher risk of clotting disorders.
• High levels of antithrombin III are not typically considered abnormal and may not indicate any significant health issues.

• A small sample of your blood will be taken from a vein in your arm.
• The sample will be sent to a laboratory for analysis.
• The test is quick and relatively painless.
