Aluminium, Hair Test by ICPMS

This test measures the levels of aluminium in your hair samples using an analytical technique called ICPMS. 

The results of this test help determine if you have been overexposed to aluminium. It is used to assess the risk of toxicity and related health issues like Alzheimer's disease, kidney and liver damage, and bone disorders. Hence, this test is done to

• Assess occupational or environmental exposure.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of chelation therapy for aluminium detoxification.
• Monitor patients with kidney problems or bone disorders.

Your doctor might recommend this test if you have

• Symptoms such as weakness or pain in bones or muscles.
• A history of occupational exposure to aluminium.
• Altered mental status or memory loss.
• A family history of Alzheimer's disease or any other neurological disorder.

If your results show an abnormal level, it may indicate prolonged exposure to excessive amounts of aluminium from various sources such as food, water, or occupational exposure. 

During this non-invasive test, a small sample of your hair will be collected for analysis. The process takes just a few minutes.

To prepare for this test, remember the following points:

• The hair should be clean and dry, and free from any chemical treatment.
• Do not apply any hair products like oil, gel, or spray.
• Do not dye or bleach your hair for at least two weeks before the test.
• Inform your doctor if you have had any recent hair treatments like perming or straightening.
