This test measures the drug susceptibility of the MTb complex (Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex) to levofloxacin, an antibiotic used in the treatment of tuberculosis (TB).

• This test helps determine if the bacteria causing the tuberculosis infection are responsive or resistant to levofloxacin. • To guide the selection of antibiotics for treating TB based on drug susceptibility. • To monitor the effectiveness of ongoing TB treatment. • To identify drug-resistant strains of the MTb complex. • To prevent the development and spread of drug-resistant TB strains.

This test is recommended for • Patients diagnosed with TB to determine their specific drug susceptibility profile. • Patients with a history of non-response or relapse during TB treatment. • Individuals suspected of having drug-resistant TB due to close contact with a known case. • Patients who have completed initial treatment for TB but are experiencing persistent symptoms.

Abnormal results may suggest resistance to levofloxacin, requiring alternative antibiotics or modified treatment regimens.

During the collection process, a sputum or other appropriate sample will be collected for testing.
