Kappa Light Chains by Flow Cytometry

This test measures the levels of Kappa Light Chains in your blood.

• To diagnose and monitor Multiple Myeloma and Lymphoproliferative Disease • To evaluate the effectiveness of treatment for these conditions • To assess disease progression and response to therapy • To aid in the differential diagnosis of other haematological disorders

This test may be recommended if you have • Symptoms suggestive of multiple myeloma or lymphoproliferative disease, such as bone pain, fatigue, recurrent infections, or unexplained weight loss. • Abnormal findings on other laboratory tests or imaging studies. • A family history or genetic risk factors for these conditions. • A previous diagnosis of multiple myeloma or lymphoproliferative disease.

Abnormal results may indicate the presence of multiple myeloma or lymphoproliferative disease. however, further diagnostic tests and consultation with a healthcare provider are necessary to confirm the diagnosis and develop an appropriate treatment plan.

A small sample of your blood will be collected using a needle. The procedure is typically quick and relatively painless.
