Amyloid-A serum, also known as Serum Amyloid-A (SAA), is a family of apolipoproteins associated with high-density lipoprotein (HDL) in the blood plasma. Acute-phase SAA proteins are secreted in response to inflammatory stimuli, while constitutive SAA proteins are expressed at constant levels regardless of the presence of inflammation.
