This test is recommended for • patients with persistent headaches, fever, neck stiffness, confusion, or altered mental status, • individuals with known risk factors for fungal infections, including immunosuppression or recent organ transplantation, • patients on long-term corticosteroid therapy or receiving chemotherapy, or • those with a history of previous fungal infections or exposure to contaminated environments.
