The Candida Albicans Test detects the presence of Candida albicans in your body.

Your doctor may recommend the Candida Albicans Test if you have • symptoms suggestive of a Candida Albican infection, such as oral thrush, vaginal yeast infection, or skin rashes • a weakened immune system due to conditions like HIV/AIDS, cancer, or organ transplantation • prolonged use of antibiotics or corticosteroids • uncontrolled diabetes mellitus, or • frequent episodes of fungal infections.

If the results are abnormal (positive), it suggests the presence of an active infection or colonisation by Candida albicans.

During the test, a blood sample is collected from a vein in your arm using a needle. The sample is then sent to the laboratory for analysis.
